I actually started a side gig in 2022…nothing fancy, but extra cash never hurt!
I keep reading all these stories and articles about side hustles to earn extra cash, best side hustles 2022, and make your side hustle your full time gig. Well I actually started one this year, well two sort of but I already wrote about one before.
So joined a ride sharing app, Lyft, to make some extra cash on the side, you know 5–10 hours a week and call it good. Just take what I make and save it all because come next year I know I will owe taxes on it.
To point out that the side gig is actually a good amount of extra cash, since you can expense your mileage with the IRS to cut down on your taxes as well. I have learned a few things about people in general where I am doing this at least.
- So many people here use Lyft to get to their job, or around town, to the airport, etc. People are literally going to Walgreens, or to work in the morning. And I am not talking about big corporate type jobs, literally a pizza place, a factory, clothing stores, grocery stores, etc. I figured I would just be transporting drunk people on weekends, which I do, and people to and from the airport. I never thought as many people used Lyft for day to day activities.
- These people with normal jobs always leave a tip, even if it is only a $1. Drunk people tend to leave a great tip, or are too drunk to remember and forget. The people that do not leave a tip 90% of the time are people with $$$$$.
